Inside The Bradford: A North Carolina Wedding Venue Worth Traveling For

In April I had the chance to attend a styled shoot at The Bradford in New Hill, North Carolina – just outside of Raleigh. The event was hosted by Heather of Styled Shoots Across America and featured impressive floral displays by Sarah of Intrigue Designs. When I saw that this shoot was taking place, I knew I couldn’t pass it up! The Bradford is a jewel of the East Coast – a European style venue in the heart of North Carolina. Combine this stunning space with the Heather and Sarah’s creative eyes, I knew this would be something memorable.

About the Bradford

To get to the venue, I was led down winding country roads past beautiful Jordan Lake and through dense forests. The sun shimmered off the lake, and North Carolina was showing off her best. Upon arrival at The Bradford, it’s easy to forget you’re still in the United States. If it weren’t for the other photographers and vendors speaking English around me, I would have thought we were in France or Italy.

Although The Bradford looks like it’s been part of North Carolina history for generations, it actually opened its doors in 2014. The website says it was “intentionally built to embody the warmth and character of a storied European countryside home.” This creates a perfect mix of modern comforts and historical charm — all the character of a historic manor without any of the dark, dingy feeling that can come with an older building.

Details that Caught my Eye

Where do I even begin with the stunning details at The Bradford? The first thing that caught my eye driving up was the row of trees leading to the building. They remind you that you’re in the South, while perfectly framing the European-style manor. The Bradford is surrounded by trees, in fact — it feels quiet, peaceful, and remote. Celebrating here would feel like your wedding exists in its own little world, separate from all the problems making headlines.

Before entering the main house, you’re welcomed by a large fountain reminiscent of something you might find in an Italian piazza or an English garden. Walk around to the right of the main house and you’ll find a solitary outdoor fireplace at the end of a perfectly manicured lawn. It feels almost out of place — but when it’s surrounded by friends and family on your wedding day, it becomes a reminder of home and the warmth your guests bring to the occasion.

My favorite part of the venue is the terrace cradled between the main house and the ballrooms. It offers generous shade on steamy North Carolina summer days and a cozy, private atmosphere for evening receptions. Fill it with tables, chairs, and flowers, illuminate it with overhead string lights, and you’re transported to a quaint restaurant in the Italian countryside. A grand wooden door opens onto the terrace and provides the perfect spot for your grand entrance.

The venue is well equipped for weddings both large and small with “two private getting-ready suites, the John Robert Suite, two ballrooms, terrace, gardens, table + chair inventory, and bar fronts.”
